Alexander Lonquich
Born in Trier, Germany, Alexander Lonquich is recognized as one of the most important interpreters of his generation.
As a soloist, chamber musician and conductor, he performs worldwide at the most prestigious venues and festivals, including the Salzburg Festival, Lucerne Festival, Schubertiade Schwarzenberg, Edinburgh Festival and Beethovenfest Bonn.
Particularly acclaimed in the double role of soloist and conductor, he appears regularly with Camerata Salzburg, Orchestre des Champs-Elysées, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, and the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, among others.
As soloist, he has performed with the Wiener Philharmoniker, Tonhalle Orchestra Zürich, Czech Philharmonic, and the Philharmonic Orchestra of La Scala, under conductors including Claudio Abbado, Philippe Herreweghe, Heinz Holliger and Ton Koopman.
A committed chamber musician, his regular partners include Nicolas Altstaedt, Vilde Frang, Christian Tetzlaff, Tabea Zimmermann and Jörg Widmann.
Since 2020, he serves as Artistic Director of the Fondazione Scuola di Musica di Fiesole.
His recordings for EMI and ECM Records — dedicated to Mozart, Schubert, Schumann, Fauré, Ravel and Messiaen — have earned prizes including the the Diapason d'Or, the Premio Abbiati and the Edison Prize.
Recent releases include the all five Beethoven concertos with the Münchener Kammerorchester.
