Alexander and Tommaso Lonquich
The rapport between Alexander and Tommaso Lonquich — father and son, pianist and clarinettist — is rooted in a lifetime of Hausmusik: an ease of communication, a shared sense of phrase and colour, a quality of listening in continuous dialogue.
Alexander Lonquich is recognized as one of the most important pianists and conductor-soloists of his generation, Artistic Director of the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, and a prizewinner of the Diapason d'Or, the Premio Abbiati and the Edison Prize.
Tommaso Lonquich, acclaimed for his "passion, sumptuous tone, magical finesse and dazzling virtuosity," is an Artist of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and Artistic Director of Schackenborg Musikfest.
He has appeared as a chamber musician and as a soloist worldwide, including under his father's baton.
Together with Cristina Barbuti, they have created Kantoratelier in Florence and OMANUT in Rome, two venues dedicated to the intersection of Music, Theater and Psychoanalysis.
Their collaboration can be heard on the award-winning Moonwalk (NovAntiqua Records, 2021) — a concept album of late-Romantic music for clarinet and piano by Brahms, Saint-Saëns, Debussy, Busoni and Reger.
The Clarinet magazine praised it as "delicately sumptuous... incredible musicality of the performers... the overall effect is immense satisfaction."
